Welcome to 2025

I've had this blog for more than a decade now. In 2012, I followed several independent fashion and beauty bloggers, you could call them an earlier generation of influencers at the time, and became inspired to post my own content, however silly it might have been. Note that most of my old posts from 2012~2024 have been archived/deleted to save myself from embarrassment. I really thought I was the shit back then. 🙃

12+ years later, why am I writing this post? You could say I'm trying to reignite my inner 16 year old sans the poor decision-making skills and teenage hormones. I simply want to feel young again, not only in body, but in spirit. I want that innocence and curiosity about the world that I used to have.

More so recently, I've been overwhelmed with adulting and everything that comes with being in my twenties in a late capitalist society.*

Don't get it twisted; I know there are so many positives about how our world has developed technologically and economically. For example, if not for the medical advancements throughout history, the average lifespan has increased, so now we have even more time to contemplate the meaning of life and existential dread (!). But I digress.

As a chronic over-sharer, I need a public outlet to express my thoughts candidly and comfortably. I thought about posting more on social media, particularly Instagram, but, honestly, I can't stand that application anymore. Not to be dramatic, and I'm sure that many people share this sentiment, but the place has become a consumerist hellhole. I still use it from time to time, primarily as a messaging application to keep up with my close friends, but it takes intense focus for me to not stray from my original purpose of checking messages to wasting time doom scrolling. So, that's another reason what brought me back to this safe space on the internet. Less information overload and a simple streamlined interface that makes it so easy for me to post what I please.

I'm here to bring focus to minimalism, which is what I hope to center this blog on. Everything that makes me frustrated and sad about out world can be rooted back to the hyper consumerist economy. It is why the United States does not have universal healthcare. It is why billionaires exist while populations don't have access to clean water or food. It is why climate change is a thing... "This is why we can't have nice things..."

But what if we can have nice things? We don't have to succumb to this instant gratification lifestyle. We don't have to accept this dopamine draining world. We can enjoy the best and beautiful things about being human without spending money or literally buying into the idea that money, business, and power is what we need.

I know I'm coming from greatly privileged point of view to even have the time to write this out. Please take everything I say with a grain of salt. I'm just a single person trying to find joy in the simple things. If I can spread just a bit of positive awareness about minimalism, the environment, and sustainability, I'll feel fulfilled. And if I don't? Who cares? I enjoy writing and sharing my thoughts.

Anyways, I hope you stay a while, and look forward to more posts from me.

❤️
